This week I completed the two-day Mental Health First Aider course (MHFA England®) and it has been genuinely valuable — especially in how it has enhanced my Social Work training and my understanding of the current challenges around mental health awareness and support. What struck me is how widely relevant it is: several of the resources and tools shared are free and accessible, making them useful in all kinds of environments, from work to family life. I'd recommend this training to anyone looking to strengthen their skills or gain a better understanding of self-care — it seems only logical that for every physical first aider in a workplace there should also be a mental health first aider. Christina James was a wonderful instructor: informative and sensitive, with brilliant anecdotes from her career as a Mental Health Nurse. I thoroughly enjoyed the training under her direction, alongside a group who came from all walks of life and shared amazing insights.
I'm now officially a Mental Health First Aider. Christina James at Sanitas Hub delivered the Mental Health First Aid England course beautifully — her warmth and ability to put the room at ease meant we could all relax and engage openly. What struck me most was realising how much I was already doing intuitively, while also seeing clearly where I could grow, like the discipline of active listening and tracking what someone has shared so I can signpost them to the right support. I have a Master's in Psychology, but this course gave me the practical skills to help people in the moment. The qualification is just the beginning — the real work is using these skills with real people, and helping break the stigma around mental health.
It was great to spend time learning practical skills with Christina James and approaches to better support colleagues who may be experiencing mental health challenges. The training was a great reminder of how important it is to create workplaces where people feel safe to talk, where support is visible, and where we actively look out for one another. Small conversations and simple acts of support can make a real difference and help break down the stigma.

I recently completed a three-day training course with Christina James at Sanitas Hub to become a Mental Health First Aid practitioner and Neurodiversity Champion, and I cannot recommend the experience highly enough. Christina delivered the training with exceptional professionalism while maintaining a warm, approachable, and supportive atmosphere throughout.
I attended the 2 day Mental Health First Aider training with Christina at Sanitas Hub. The delivery of the course was exceptional and she really brought the subject to life. Despite it being taught virtually for the 2 days, I was completely engaged and despite some tough subjects, I thoroughly enjoyed the course and would have no hesitation in recommending anyone to join this course.
I have just completed the MHFA course with Sanitas Hub, provided by Christina James and it was brilliant. She was an amazing instructor, gave lots of real life experiences and brought a positive energy to a difficult subject. Christina was understanding, and provided lots of extra information you cannot find online or in books. I would highly recommend her courses to others.
Christina James is an excellent instructor. After the MHFA course I feel more confident in helping others successfully and most importantly ensuring my own mental health is ok in the process. When it comes to any other related courses or refreshers I would definitely seek her as a tutor!
Highly recommend this course with Christina, she is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to mental health. A very informative & interactive two day training session. Care is taken when heavy subjects are undertaken to make sure everyone takes sufficient breaks & is doing ok. I thoroughly enjoyed it & feel like I have the skills required to go forward as an MHFA.
The course has been lovely, it was very useful to learn the material in the context of Christina's real world lived experience with some of the conditions mentioned on the course, and invaluable to find out best practice tips when approaching such cases. The format was brilliant and interaction in the group was very helpful.
